• The newest kid on the Australian Speedway block has been raising more than a few eyebrows for the last twelve months as the multi-million dollar high bank pleasure-dome continues to take shape.

It’s the Pevely identical steep-banked rock and roll show that is the almost completed Speedway in Bordertown in South Australia.
And the great news is that as the completion date draws nearer Australia’s newest kid on the block will rock in time for the 2024/2025 Sprintcar Speedweek.

The Speedway will host the second round of the annual December 26-January 1 extravaganza and is welcomed into the schedule for Round Two on December 27.

Promoters and management of Avalon Raceway Lara, Borderline Speedway Mount Gambier and Premier Speedway Warrnambool today visited the spectacular new earthworks over the weekend as it continues to take remarkable form.

“The Speedway in Bordertown is spectacular already and it’s not yet completed,” says Avalon Raceway’s Jeff Drew, “as the collective of Promoting tracks of the Sprintcar Speedweek we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Wayne and Andrew Rowett and their team in Bordertown on board for 2024/2025. This is going to be a wonderful addition to the Australian Speedway industry and our annual Speedweek series specifically.”

The inclusion of Bordertown now makes Speedweek a five-tracks-in-seven-days proposition. The news of Bordertown’s addition to the schedule has also been welcomed by many of the elite Sprintcar teams that have already indicated interest in Speedweek ’24/25.

Whilst the venue has yet to be officially named and earth and logistical works continue at a steady rate there is little concern for Wayne Rowett that their new dream arena will be completed in time for the 2024/2025 season.

“We’re on target,” says Rowett, “we’ve been working hard on many aspects of the facility and we’re really excited to be part of the Sprintcar Speedweek Series. Naturally there is still plenty to do before we open and we aim to have several test, practice and race event sessions completed before Christmas but it is absolutely our intention to add our own special Bordertown magic to Speedweek. It’s an honour to be included and we’re grateful for the show of faith from Murray Bridge, Avalon, Borderline and Premier. We can’t wait.”

The schedule for the 2024/2025 Sprintcar Speedweek schedule is now confirmed as:

December 26: Murray Machining & Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway, SA December 27: Bordertown Speedway, SA December 28: Borderline Speedway Mount Gambier, SA December 30: Avalon Raceway Lara, VIC January 1: Premier Speedway Warrnambool VIC.

More information on the new-look Sprintcar Speedweek will be available soon.
