• ALTHOUGH their 2023-24 season campaign turned out to be a limited one, the Bohud Racing team and their driver Michael Stewart look back at the season in 410 Sprintcars with a lot of satisfaction. The Bohud Racing team contested a total of 13 race meetings during the season, which saw Michael Stewart run 12 of them and fill-in driver William Lucas run the other, and it saw the NS # 14 ARRMA Australia / Illawarra Truck Repairs & Spares supported Triple X car finish on
the feature-race podium on six occasions.

When it comes to season highlights for the Bohud Racing team, Michael Stewart picked up two feature-race wins – Dubbo Speedway and Canberra’s ACT Speedway – ran second in the NSW Title behind Lachlan McHugh and finished second in the final point standings of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship at Toowoomba Speedway. Looking over the season’s performances for Stewart, he finished inside the top-five on nine occasions out of the 12 race meetings he contested, which was particularly impressive considering the limited amount of race meetings he ran compared to many of his main rivals who ran well over 20
    race meetings.

Stewart was rapt to have picked up the win on home soil at ACT Speedway, where Sprintcars returned to the Canberra region for the first time in nearly 30 years, and he was very pleased to have bounced back from his previous meeting disappointment at Sydney International Speedway, when he crashed out while leading, to finish second behind Jock Goodyer in last season’s season finale at Sydney International Speedway. One of the strong points for the Bohud Racing team was their consistency throughout the night, and it saw Stewart win a total of five heat races and five minor podium finishes in heat races during the season, which earned him good starting feature-race positions.

In the return to action at Sydney International Speedway in March, Michael had one of his most disappointing qualifying performances, where he started the feature race from position 18 and then went on to charge his way through the field in impressive fashion to narrowly finishing just off the podium in fourth behind Jordyn Brazier. Another season highlight for the Bohud Racing team occurred in January of this year at Nowra Speedway while regular team driver Michael Stewart was away competing over in America at the Chili Bowl Nationals and William Lucas filled in for the team. With only a handful of race meetings in a 410 Sprintcar to his name, Lucas well and truly exceeded expectations to be a standout performer on the night and he went on to finish second in the feature race. Earlier in the night, he scored the opening heat race win, which was the first ever win for Lucas in 410 Sprintcars.

Despite their being more highs than lows during the season, apart from having the feature race win at Sydney International Speedway in April slip through his fingers, the Bohud Racing team had a challenging debut at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway in Victoria for the two nights of the Australian Championship. Heading into one of the biggest 410 Sprintcar events on the season calendar having not driven the Bohud Racing team car in nearly two months, Stewart struggled, but he and the team fought on and went on to finish the second and final night with a top-10 finish in the B main after they had transferred out
    of the C main.

With the 2023-24 season now at an end, the Bohud Racing team and Stewart are now turning their attention to getting ready for their 2024-25 season campaign.
